![]() ![]() He was buried at Pere Lachaise cemetary in Paris. ![]() Jim had recently consulted a doctor about a respitory ailment, however, no autopsy was performed. On July 3rd 1971 Jim Morrison was found dead in his bathtub. The Doors original line up remained together until the untimely death of Jim Morrison in Paris. After being fired due to low turn out the band caught a break and was hired to open for the headliners at the Whisky-a-Go-Go. In 1965 the Doors began playing a steady gig at the London Fog, a 2nd rate club on the Sunset Strip in Los Angeles. Their recording of Light My Fire became a smash hit and catapulted the Doors into Classic Rock History. They named the group The Doors after Aldous Huxley's book about mescaline, The Doors of Perception. John Densmore and Robby Krieger eventually joined on drums and guitar. Ray an accomplished organist, became excited hearing Morrison sing his own song, Moonlight Drive and suggested they start a band. That summer was spent learning their craft, getting High, engaging in stimulating conversation and having fun in the California sun. They both enrolled in the Department of Cinematography.
